Pompasita Bottle

This adorable bottle had me laughing the first minute I saw it, and I knew I had to have it!!!
Fortunately it isn't as large as I was imagining it would be because I just knew I wouldn't know where to put it. But it is a wee little thing and I truly, truly LOVE IT!!!!!

This bottle is made from porcelain clay. While it was still wet, I altered
it to have a tushie. Later I fired it unglazed in a gas kiln to 2400
degrees F.

While I was working on this, my neighbor dropped by. She looked at
the bottle, laughed and said, "Mira la pompasita!" (Look at the little
tushie!). So I named this bottle a pompasita bottle.

I left this bottle unglazed, because I love the slight sheen and subtle
color variation the flames leave on plain porcelain. Since I fire so hot,
my pottery is fully vitrified (rock or glass-like) so it is food safe and
useful even unglazed.

It is 5.5 inches (14 cm) tall and 5.5 inches (14 cm) across at it's
widest.

Unfortunately, this bottle does have a very tiny crack on the bottom.
(It's bottom, not the bottom ...You know what I mean!) The crack does
not go all the way through, so this flaw in no way effects the
usefulness or cuteness of this work.

This bottle is food safe and dishwasher safe.
